Steelhead Spring 2012

Once again Shaun and I are dumb enough to camp in sub-zero weather to catch a few fish.  We did see a pair of otters that were screwing around.  Here's one checking out Shaun.

The first steelhead I caught right at dark.  He hit about a foot off bank.

I caught this B-run our last morning while Shaun was still in bed.  I caught another one about 5 minutes later, and that was all for the day.

Watching Shaun wade across to this island we fished actually made me pray.  "God, I really need this... please let him fall."

Robbie Barnett

When my heart can handle it, I’ll post some stories about Robbie.  I’m smiling thinking about the stuff he pulled.  Robbie was indescribable.

I took this picture of my brothers when we were backpacking.  For those that don't know, Rob's the not fat one (sorry Shaun, I know you're skinny now).  Rob and I climbed one of the highest peaks in Utah the next morning.  Josh and Shaun had breakfast.

Windstorm

We had a huge windstorm last week.  This is what it did to my neighbor's trampoline.

Graduation Jibber

Steelhead Spring 2011

Shaun and I caught a bunch of steelhead this spring, most of them on fly rods.  Here are some of the better ones.

Best 2 Shows on TV

My two favorite shows are "The League" and "Modern Family". They're both new and hilarious. The league is on FX and is definitely R-rated. Modern Family is ABC on Wednesday.

Wyoming

Dad and I have taken the boat to the Snake River, a couple reservoirs, and Wyoming. It was kind of muddy on the road.



This may be the largest Brown that I've taken on a dry fly.

First trip with boat

It would have been smarter to test the boat locally, but we drove almost 300 miles for the first boat trip. Josh caught the first fish out of the boat. This 7 foot sturgeon.

Drift Boat

I finally found my dream boat. The problem was that it had been sunk and totaled.


I worked on it basically around the clock for three weeks.




After a mere 150 hours or so, here's what it looks like. Since this picture I've fiberglassed the boxes. I'll paint the inside over the winter.

Jer Bear

Jeremy sent me the best text ever yesterday! I'm going to respect his privacy and redact the text.

About a week ago we went sturgeon fishing. We caught several really nice fish.

My dad, uncle Rick and I went steelhead fishing a couple weeks ago.



We stayed in some neat cabins.

Wreck

We decided to let Chris drive coming home from our fly fishing trip in Wyoming. Mistake. He rolled and totaled Tony's truck on I-80. I was in the back with Shaun. Chris and Tony were in front. Everyone keeps telling us how lucky we are nobody died. Yeah, but what about my gorgeous head? D-bags.


In the ambulance they cut the arms off my favorite fleece and fishing shirt. I wasn't too happy about that.
Chris also hit an elk doing about 45 mph last week at the Grand Canyon. We thought of a clever new name for Chris. It's A-hole.

Get some hobbies

There's an article in today Salt Lake Tribune about Utah leading the nation in online porn subscriptions. "Utah is Red State When it Comes to Porn". Some of the comments about this article are hilarious. Here's an example:

I'm disappointed in Utahans, Porn is free. Why pay for it? are we that stupid? Where are our fiscal conservative values? No wonder we are near the top in bankruptcies also, we pay for porn for heavens sakes, what kind of financial lunatic does that? It's appalling!
